Class B – adventure of going over LAX

We planed for a flight from WHP to LGB through class B airspace, which was supposed to go over LAX.
On southbound route we choose to go through Mini rout. Flying 2500 over LAX and passing right over the runways was incredible feeling. I saw a KLM 747 taking off right when I was over the runway 25R.
The radio communication was not what I had planned, after taking off from WHP, they hand off to BUR, SMO, LAX,HHR and then LGB,This easily confused me right after we were over BUR. It’s interesting that BUR radar system was out !! they couldn’t track us. I never thought that an airport with that scale could have a major radar outage.

On the way back we choose to go through Los Angeles special flight rule area. that was much way easier since we didn’t need to communicate with any ATC or tower for coordination.

I’m very excited with this flight lesson and I picked a lot from going through in class B and what to do when you are planning such an trip.

Weather information for today’s flight. All airports are VFR and we are cleared to pass through Mini Route and Los Angeles Flight Rule Area
